The course first opened for play in 1949. The course was re-designed by James Ganley in 2000.
The course plays over rolling terrain and there are three ponds and a creek coming into play on nine holes. The fairways are generally open and lined with tall fescue, and play to well manicured greens that vary in size and undulation. Hawk Lake plays from 5,139 to 6,611-yards and there are four sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels. Par for the course is 72.
Hawk Lake Golf Club closed in 2006.
